Page-turn pedals

Turn pages with your foot, on every platform.

enScore works with any Bluetooth pedal that types a key, which is nearly all of them. Pair it with the device once and every score turns hands-free.

Which pedals work

A page-turn pedal is a small Bluetooth keyboard with two or more switches. enScore listens for the keys they send, so any pedal in keyboard (HID) mode turns pages: AirTurn, PageFlip, Donner, Coda, iRig BlueTurn and the many generic ones. There is nothing to configure inside enScore.

AirTurn

The DUO, QUAD and BT200 series, plus the PED and PEDpro. Set the pedal to a keyboard mode that sends arrow keys or Page Up and Page Down.

AirTurn pedals

PageFlip

Firefly, Butterfly and Dragonfly. Their default profile already sends the keys enScore reads; the Firefly also has backlit switches for dark stages.

PageFlip pedals

Donner and the rest

Donner, Coda, iRig BlueTurn and the generic pedals sold for tablets all send arrow or Page keys in their default mode and work as they are.

A keyboard also counts

On Mac and Windows, and on an iPad or Android tablet with a keyboard attached, the same keys turn pages, so you can rehearse without the pedal.

On Android, pedals that send volume keys work too: volume down turns forward and volume up turns back while a score is open. Half-page and alternating turns follow the same keys, so the pedal always does what a tap does.

Pairing, per platform

iPhone and iPad

Settings → Bluetooth. Put the pedal in pairing mode and tap its name. Some pedals hide the on-screen keyboard once paired; if you need to type, the pedal usually has a button to bring it back, or switch the pedal off for a moment.

Mac

System Settings → Bluetooth. Connect the pedal, then open a score in enScore and press a switch. If macOS offers to identify a new keyboard, close that assistant; the pedal works without it.

Android and e-ink readers

Settings → Connected devices → Pair new device. Once connected, open a score and press a switch. On e-ink readers the page turns without animation, so the refresh stays clean.

Windows

Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Add device. Pedals appear as a keyboard. Open a score in enScore and press a switch; arrow keys, Page keys and space all turn pages, on a Surface or any other Windows pen device.

Pedals pair with the device, not with enScore, so the same pedal follows you from one app to another. If the pages do not turn, the pedal is usually in a mouse or media-key mode; switch it to a keyboard (HID) mode and try again.
