Moving from forScore

Bring your forScore library with you. Nothing to redo.

forScore shares scores as .4sc files. enScore opens them on every platform, and your ink, stamps, layers, bookmarks and tempo arrive exactly as you left them.

What comes across

  • The score itself, with its title and composer
  • Every marking on every page, drawn pixel-exact where you drew it
  • Your annotation layers, kept as separate enScore layers with their names and visibility
  • Bookmarks, as enScore bookmarks pointing at the same page
  • The metronome tempo you set for the piece

Imported markings are pictures of your ink rather than editable strokes, so the eraser removes them pixel by pixel instead of stroke by stroke. Anything you write in enScore afterwards is ordinary editable ink on top. Setlists do not travel inside a .4sc file; rebuild them once in enScore, where they sync to every device.

Step by step

  1. Share from forScore

In forScore’s library, select the scores you want (Edit, then Select All takes the whole library). Share them and choose the forScore file (.4sc) format.

  2. Get the file to your device

AirDrop it, or save it to Files, Google Drive, OneDrive or any folder your new device can reach. One file can hold many scores.

  3. Import into enScore

Open enScore’s import menu and choose Import from forScore (.4sc), then pick the file. On iPhone, iPad and Mac you can also share the file straight to enScore. On Windows, double-click it or use the same import menu.

  4. Check a page or two

Open a score you marked up heavily. Every layer is listed in the Layers panel, ready to hide for the concert. If enScore cannot read a file it says which one, and every other score in the file still imports.

What you gain

enScore runs the same library on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Vision, Android, Amazon Fire, e-ink readers and Windows, so an imported library is no longer tied to one kind of device. Sign in on a second device and it is all there in seconds. Titles and composers fill themselves in for scores that arrived as scans, IMSLP search lives inside the app, and half-page turns, setlists with a page range per entry, a metronome and a tuner are all built in.

Reading, ink, setlists and scanning need no account. Pro is a single purchase that unlocks on every platform you sign into. See what is free and what is Pro.
